USSSA Tournament Directors — The Public Record

Scott Marwitz: Moore Baseball, Buck Thomas Park, Edmond’s Caplinger Fields & the 46-Event Record

2004–2007  •  Original USSSA results and brackets  •  Verified current facility locations  •  Transparent financial models

Historical tournament records, community-owned places and the difference between advertised fees, hypothetical attendance and documented financial receipts.

Controlling source: September 20, 2026 Hidden Valley datasetIndependent municipal cross-checksResearch, not an accusation

Long after youth baseball brackets disappear from public view, surviving event pages can still show which teams played, which dates were advertised and which director names were listed. For Day 21, Baseball Heaven examines Scott Marwitz and 2004–2007 Oklahoma USSSA baseball activity associated in the Hidden Valley research dataset with Moore’s Buck Thomas Park and Edmond’s Hafer Park / A.C. Caplinger Sports Complex. The objective is to make the surviving record understandable—while identifying precisely what it cannot tell us.

2004–2007Four represented seasons
46Distinct base event identifiers
2,224Team-event-division entries
$307,108Calculated gross advertised entry fees
290Division records
4,599Dataset minimum-game equivalents
7,606Estimated officiating assignments
2Source-listed facility categories
Read these numbers correctly. Team entries can represent the same team participating across different divisions or events; they are not 2,224 unduplicated clubs. Minimum games and officiating assignments are dataset-based calculations, not audited completed games or individual officials. Advertised entry fees are calculated gross amounts, not confirmed cash collected or personal income.

1. Source priority, director identification and an event-count crosswalk

The AIUSSSA – Hidden Valley Integrity Of The Game event-level CSV is controlling. The older inventory and existing Scott Marwitz activity profile are used only to reconcile identifiers and describe previously published research. The 290 source rows yield 46 distinct season-plus-base-event IDs, matching the inventory. All 290 fee calculations reconcile: displayed teams × posted per-team fee = the dataset's gross advertised entry-fee calculation.

There are also 39 date-title-facility clusters, a different count from the 46 distinct source IDs. Eight separately numbered source entries share a March 5, 2005, Moore A/AA Early Bird date and name. These may represent separately indexed divisions or event pages, but the original archives have not been recovered sufficiently to determine whether they should be treated as one administered tournament weekend. We retain the 46 source IDs for traceability, report the 39 calendar/location clusters separately, and do not add the two counts together.

The supplemental research crosswalk supplies a historic USSSA Director ID 587707 and an individual-profile reference: USSSA director-profile address (historical reference). That address was not independently accessible during this review; therefore, it is not represented as an active verified official profile or a statement of present affiliation.

2. Annual tournament and participation reconstruction

YearEvent IDsDivisionsTeam entriesEntry-fee calculationMinimum gamesOfficial assignments
2004644374$43,7388061,364
20051670529$68,7711,0161,625
2006966505$84,4181,1371,876
200715110816$110,1811,6402,741
TOTAL462902,224$307,1084,5997,606

The source's 2007 season contributes the most calculated advertised entry-fee activity ($110,181). This is a historical participation/fee measure only; without receipts and operator agreements it does not establish which entity, if any, collected or retained the advertised amount.

3. Where the public record places the events

Source facilityMunicipality/countyEvent IDsTeam entriesAdvertised feesAddress evidence

Moore — Buck Thomas Park, Cleveland County

The dataset assigns 45 base event IDs, 2,182 team-event-division entries and $296,910 calculated gross advertised entry fees to Buck Thomas Park. The City of Moore verifies the park's present-day address, 1903 NE 12th Street, Moore, OK 73160. That confirms a current municipal park and location; it does not establish the exact diamonds used, 2004–2007 field reservations, facility-use contracts, or who collected admissions.

Edmond — Hafer Park / A.C. Caplinger, Oklahoma County

One separately indexed June 29, 2007, East West Zone State Tournament entry is associated with 42 team entries and $10,198 calculated advertised fees at the Hafer Park / A.C. Caplinger facility category. The dataset lists 900 S. Bryant Avenue, Edmond, OK 73034 for the ballfield complex, also listed in a modern A.C. Caplinger facility profile. The City of Edmond lists the larger E.C. Hafer Park at 1034 S. Bryant Street. The general park address and ballfield-complex address are distinct; neither substitutes for a verified historical 2007 field reservation.

County allocation: Each of the 46 base event IDs is assigned once, to the municipality/county of its single source-listed facility: Cleveland County 45; Oklahoma County 1. This is a traceable source-listed facility attribution, not an independently verified 2004–2007 primary-host determination. If a historical event used unlisted supplemental fields, the primary-host attribution requires correction upon obtaining contemporaneous evidence.

4. Original USSSA results, brackets and schedule evidence

Some original USSSA-hosted results pages remain readable. They identify Scott Marwitz in connection with event names and dates also present in the Hidden Valley event reconstruction. Importantly, the USSSA archive's results-page identifier differs from Hidden Valley's base event identifier; connections below are matched by the visible director, event name and date—not by numerical ID equality.

  • 2006 June 10 — official results — Original USSSA team and game results; director identified
  • 2006 June 16 — official results — State Tournament team results, scores, bracket
  • 2006 June 23 — official results — State Tournament game records
  • 2007 March 26 — official results — Moore Preseason (In Park Teams)
  • 2007 May 4 — official results — Oklahoma Super NIT
  • 2007 May 4 — pool-play schedule — Original USSSA pool game scores; field names not fully preserved
  • 2007 May 12 — official results — Moore Double-Points Qualifier
  • 2007 May 12 — pool-play schedule — Original archived scores and pool game entries

The surviving May 4, 2007, Oklahoma Super NIT results list teams from Oklahoma and other states. This supports historical competitive participation but does not establish visitor spending or measured economic impact. Several archive schedules preserve game scores but display missing field or clock-time entries. References to a “Moore Sports Complex” on the archived bracket should not be treated, without further records, as conclusive proof of a specific Buck Thomas diamond.

5. Financial modeling — show the arithmetic, not a claimed profit

The controlling source records $307,108 in calculated gross advertised team-entry fees: the sum of each division’s listed teams × advertised per-team fee. There are no $0-per-team fee rows in this director subset. This calculation is distinct from, and must not be added to itself through, municipality, county, facility, or annual breakdowns.

Common model assumptions, not transaction evidence: 20 hypothetical paid spectators per team-entry-day × $5 illustrative ticket price = $100 modeled gate per team-entry-day. Gross concessions = 50% × modeled gate. Concession operating expenses = 80% × gross concessions. Modeled net concession proceeds = 20% × gross concessions = 10% of modeled gate. Spectator-day counts are modeled admissions, not unduplicated spectators; paying status, actual fees, refunds and collections are unknown.
Independent scenarioTeam-entry-daysGate modelGross concessionsConcession costsNet concessions
A: Full source calendar (unscreened)6,409$640,900$320,450$256,360$64,090
B: Maximum two admission days, all entries4,448$444,800$222,400$177,920$44,480
C: One admission day, all entries2,224$222,400$111,200$88,960$22,240
D: Max two days, excluding “in-park teams” listing4,232$423,200$211,600$169,280$42,320

Calculation example (screened two-day scenario B): 4,448 team-entry-days × 20 spectator admissions × $5 = $444,800 modeled gate. Estimated gross concession sales = $444,800 × 50% = $222,400. Modeled concession costs = $222,400 × 80% = $177,920. Hypothetical net concession proceeds = $222,400 − $177,920 = $44,480.

Calendar sensitivity: The all-days approach counts 6,409 modeled team-entry-days and produces $640,900 hypothetical gate, but includes multi-day source spans such as a nine-calendar-day March 26, 2007, “In Park Teams” preseason listing. This is an exposure calculation, not evidence that paid admission was charged on nine separate days. The max-two-day scenario reduces that exposure; another sensitivity removes the in-park listing altogether. All scenarios are alternatives and must never be summed.

Gross advertised team-entry fees, hypothetical gate, gross concession sales, and net concession proceeds describe different quantities. No model proves actual event revenue, municipality income, director compensation, operating profit, taxable income or the identity of a recipient. The dataset does not document cash receipts, deposits, refunds, day passes, season passes, cost ledgers or rights under facility-use agreements.

6. Open public-facility oversight questions

  1. What 2004–2007 contracts, reservations, permits or council approvals governed tournament use at Buck Thomas Park and the Caplinger fields?
  2. Which entity controlled ticket pricing, gate staffing, concessions, field rent and financial reporting, if any?
  3. Were any user fees, rental payments, capital-reinvestment obligations or revenue reports required, and which official records document compliance?
  4. Can historical field maps, bracket/schedule attachments and original USSSA event pages resolve the Moore Sports Complex / Buck Thomas and Hafer / Caplinger facility naming differences?
  5. How were local leagues and community programs scheduled around competitive tournaments, and what public-access policies applied?
  6. Can missing event-day records and the overlapping March 5, 2005 source IDs be independently reconstructed without double counting teams or receipts?

7. Complete 46-source-event ledger and evidence limitations

The register below preserves one row per distinct season-plus-base-event identifier. Missing verified result links remain explicitly marked; no unverified event URL was constructed from an assumed ID. The full working dataset also retains all 290 division records in the accompanying audit CSV.

Open the 46-event historical register (dates, teams, fees, venue and verified USSSA links)

Source warning: 46 event identifiers are not equivalent to 46 unique weekend operations; 39 date/title/facility clusters provide a separate grouping for comparison.

8. What remains unverified—and how corrections will be handled

The research has not established historical facility-use agreements, original enrollment and refund ledgers, actual games completed for all divisions, distinct human umpires, individual compensation, original paid-admission days, gross food sales, operating costs, or who retained any revenue. The supplemental USSSA director-profile link remains inaccessible. Only six source events presently have individually matched official USSSA results links in this review; the remaining source identities remain dataset-supported pending independent event-page confirmation.

Teams, tournament operators, city staff, families and historians with contemporaneous schedules, dated contracts, official bracket archives, receipts, council minutes or relevant corrections are invited to contact Kenneth@BCMSports.net. Please identify the year, event title, base ID and supporting document. Substantiated corrections can be recorded with an explanation of what changed.
